At The Perfect Step, every specialist is a rigorously trained Certified Paralysis Recovery Specialist (CPRS). Each level represents hundreds of hours of study, research, and hands-on client experience, building the expertise needed to guide clients safely and effectively.

  • Level I focuses on building a strong foundation in The STEP Method and the fundamentals of client interaction and rehabilitation techniques. Specialists develop key skills in safety, communication, and functional movement assessment while demonstrating a compassionate and professional approach to working with clients.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in an approved exercise science program

    • Completion and passing of all Level I exams and practicals (80% or higher)

    • Demonstrated understanding and application of The STEP Method principles

    • Proficiency with client database and training software

  • Level II emphasizes advanced application of The STEP Method, including proficiency in Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) and personalized care strategies. Specialists gain deeper expertise in client evaluation, exercise prescription, and documenting progress, ensuring each client’s rehabilitation journey is tailored and effective.

    Requirements:

    • Completion of Level I certification

    • 2,500 hours of hands-on client sessions

    • Demonstration of advanced modality and equipment techniques

    • Submission of a client progression essay/case study with shadowing feedback

    • Passing Level II exam with an 80% or higher

  • Level III represents mastery in advanced neurological rehabilitation and mentorship. Specialists refine their ability to customize therapy techniques for complex cases, mentor junior team members, and innovate in therapy approaches to improve outcomes for diverse client populations.

    Requirements:

    • Completion of Level II certification

    • 5,000 hours of hands-on client sessions

    • Positive annual reviews by leadership

    • Six hours of shadowing with an Educational Team Member

    • Passing Level III assessments and exam

  • Level IV reflects leadership and expertise at the highest level. Specialists lead in teaching, curriculum development, and organizational innovation while driving research and passion projects that enhance The Perfect Step’s programs, community impact, and internal growth.

    Requirements:

    • Completion of Level III certification

    • 7,500 hours of hands-on client sessions

    • Completion of a robust passion project (research, content creation, program development, or community engagement)

    • Positive annual leadership reviews

    • Live presentation of final research project to staff and leadership
