Specialist Training Program

Transform Lives Through Movement and Recovery

Certified Paralysis Recovery Specialist™ (CPRS)

Level I Certification

Foundations of Exercise-Based Paralysis Recovery

Program Overview

The Certified Paralysis Recovery Specialist™ (CPRS) Level I Certification is the introductory professional credential offered through The Perfect Step Institute, designed to prepare health, fitness, rehabilitation, and performance professionals to safely and effectively work with individuals living with paralysis and other complex neurological conditions ( spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, transverse myelitis, Parkinson’s disease, ALS/PLS, ataxia, and more).

Unlike traditional rehabilitation education, which often concludes when insurance-funded therapy ends, the CPRS curriculum focuses on the lifelong pursuit of health, function, independence, and quality of life through evidence-informed exercise, load-bearing, movement science, and neuroplasticity.

Developed from nearly two decades of clinical application and tens of thousands of hours of direct client care, the STEP Method® provides a systematic framework for delivering exercise-based paralysis recovery programming that bridges the gap between rehabilitation and lifelong wellness.

Upon completion of this certification, participants will possess the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to implement safe, structured paralysis recovery programming within their own facilities while understanding the limits of their scope of practice and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration.
