Join the MOVEMENT movement

We believe recovery is about more than survival - it’s about living again.

Most people with paralysis struggle to maintain their physical and mental health.

Whether caused by a spinal cord injury, stroke, or neurological disorder, conventional and traditional approaches to paralysis recovery fall short.

Often based on outdated science, they ignore the paralyzed parts of your body, often discouraging you from setting ambitious goals or getting your hopes too high, and have you working with staff who seem disengaged and just going through the motions.

The result?  You’re left feeling stuck, uninspired, and more dependent than you probably need to be.

That’s why The Perfect Step is different.

With over 15 years of research and hands-on experience serving 450+ clients, we developed the STEP Method - our evidence-based system for paralysis recovery.  We acknowledge paralyzed parts of your body, encourage ambitious goal setting, and connect you with trainers and peers who are engaged and enthusiastic about your recovery journey.

Through paralysis recovery therapy workouts, resources, and community, we help you regain function, increase independence, and rebuild confidence - so you can stop surviving your life and finally get back to living it.

Paralysis Recovery, Built By Someone Who’s Lived It

Meet Our Founder - Hal Hargrave Jr.

In 2007, shortly after he sustained a spinal cord injury in an auto accident, Hal partnered with a local health club to convert a small racquetball court for paralysis recovery.  Now, many years later, it has grown into something far greater than Hal ever anticipated - a 20,000+ square-foot location in Pomona, California, that treats a wide range of neurological ailments and illnesses.

Through years of research and hands-on work with hundreds of clients navigating paralysis, Hal and the team developed the Special Techniques and Exercises for Paralysis Method. This game-changing approach has challenged the status quo of the paralysis recovery industry, leading to better outcomes and restored hope to thousands of people with paralysis and their families.

Just because paralysis has entered your life doesn’t mean hope is lost.  Take the next step by utilizing our in-person workouts, online workouts, recovery app, and podcast.
